First of the summer wine…
Our wine menu is sourced from local suppliers who have a passion for sustainability. The idea to create our own wine came up during a discussion with one of our favourite winemakers, Renée Dale.
Renée is the CEO of Moi Wines, a small-batch premium artisan winery. Renée has a dedicated focus on growing, producing, and selling locally.
KIND Café manager Cathie Cottle asked Renée to create a wine for the café that would fit with our philosophy to live lightly on the earth. She wanted a wine that was beautiful, light, vegan, and full of personality.
Renée created the delicious new rosé wine with grapes sourced from Westbrook, a boutique winery located in picturesque Waimauku, Auckland.
Westbrook is a multi-award-winning winery that uses innovative techniques to produce handcrafted wines with grapes sourced from their home vineyard and a single vineyard in Marlborough.
Our KIND Rosé is styled on a stunning blush French Provence style of wine with a darker red appearance.
Cathie describes the tasting notes as “cherry compote, tangerine, peach melba, and raspberry coulis on the nose, with a vivacious mid-palate of fresh blueberries, green apple skin crunch, and red liquorice with a twist of lime juice”.
Good wine and food pairing will maximise the pleasure and taste of the new rosé. Cathie recommends enjoying a glass with a lighter meal such as KIND’s fresh Poke Bowl or the Whipped Goat’s Cheese.
“We are excited at the response so far,” says Cathie. “The first batch sold out within the first week of launching.”
The KIND Rosé is a 2019 seasonal release that is at its best while still young. It’s ideal for enjoying during the hot summer days still to come.
KIND Rosé is sold by the glass or bottle for café diners to enjoy in-house.
